Muramasa VIII headphones are (almost) worth their weight in gold

Muramasa VIII headphones are (almost) worth their weight in gold
If you’re a headphone fanatic who enjoys the finer things in life, the Muramasa VIII by Final Audio Design could be the ultimate luxury purchase. The Japanese company may not be very well known, but has already released some of the most expensive in-ear headphones around.
At a cool US$8,000, the Muramasa is one of the more costly headphones we’ve seen, and are also the first over-the-ear cans by the company. Final Audio Design previously made headlines with its Piano Forte X-VIII in-ear headphones, which were almost US$2,700. The Muramasa VIII now takes the top spot for the company’s priciest headphones.
What do you get for the money? Well, a lot of heft for one. These circumaural headphones are made of solid stainless steel and weigh 850g. They are also two-way headphones with both a tweeter and a full-range driver for each ear. Large over-the-ears like the Monster Beats by Dr. Dre Studio don’t even break 300g.
Will they sound like 8,000 bucks? We sure hope so. But if they don’t, at least you’ll get a good neck workout while blaring Kanye West’s Stronger on your daily commute.
