TIm Cook And Larry Page Are Secretly Negotiating About The Patent War [REPORT]

Reuters reports that Apple's CEO Tim Cook and Google's CEO Larry Page have been discussing about the patent disputes between the two companies.

Though Apple hasn't sued Google directly, it has sued manufacturers's of Google's Android based smartphones such as Samsung for copying its products.
Google appeared to distance itself from last week's $1 billion verdict in favor of Apple, by saying that the patent claims "don't relate to the core Android operating system."
Reuters now reports:
Google Inc CEO Larry Page and Apple CEO Tim Cook have been conducting behind-the-scenes conversations about a range of intellectual property matters, including the ongoing mobile patent disputes between the companies, according to people familiar with the matter.
The two chief executives had a phone conversation last week, the sources said. Discussions involving lower-level officials of the two companies are also ongoing.
The CEOs  and other officials of the two companies are apparently working on a settlement involving disputes over basic features and functions in Google's Android operating system. It's unclear whether the executives are discussing a much broader settlement of patent disputes between the two companies.
Apple had stepped its rivalry with Google in the last few months by launching its all-new Maps app, which replaced the Maps app that used Google's mapping data and also removing the YouTube app in iOS 6
Steve Jobs had explained to his authorized biographer, Walter Isaacson, that this aggression against Android-based smartphone manufacturers was meant to communicate a message:
“Google, you f–king ripped off the iPhone, wholesale ripped us off. Grand theft.” Jobs swore he would “spend my last dying breath” and “every penny” in Apple’s coffers “to right this wrong. I’m going to destroy Android, because it’s a stolen product. I’m willing to go to thermonuclear war on this.”
However, recent reports have suggested that Apple may abandon its thermonuclear war against Android under Tim Cook. It remains to be seen if it would result in a settlement between the two companies.
