Meet The World's Fastest Robot

Cheetahs are supposed to be the fastest running animals on land, especially when it is chasing down its prey. Inspired by the spirit and fast speed of Cheetah, Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) funded Boston Dynamics to build a robot that can run like a real Cheetah. The first version of the robot set a record of up to 18 mph (29 kph) speed when it ran. Now the robot has broken its own speed record and set a new record which is much higher than previous record. Can you guess, how fast did it run?
DARPA's Cheetah robot
The robot Cheetah is the brainchild of Boston Dynamics. On March 5, 2012, the robot set a record of up to 18 mph (29 kph) speed. But its developers at the Boston Dynamics were trying to make it faster. And finally they succeeded. Exactly 6 months later on September 05, 2012, DARPA’s Cheetah broke its previous record and set a new record of 28.3 mph. It has surpassed the Olympics 2012 world record speed of Jamaican gold medalist sprinter Usain Bolt too.
Boston Dynamics hope to make the robot fast enough to sprint as fast as 70 miles an hour, like a true cheetah. Cheetah robot is still being tested and developed under the Maximum Mobility and Manipulation (M3) program by Boston Dynamics.
